• Oakland International Airport is located 10 miles south of the central business district of Oakland. It is one of 3 airports serving the San Francisco Bay area. Southwest Airlines is the major carrier.
• The airport is popular with low cost airlines and in recent years has been one of the nation’s fastest growing airports. It is a focus city for ATA Airlines and for JetBlue Airways.
• Oakland International has 2 terminals. Terminal 1 has 19 gates and is used by 13 airlines including Alaska, American, ATA, Delta, JetBlue, United and US Airways. Terminal 2 has 13 gates and is used primarily by Southwest Airlines.
• It is the Bay Area’s second busiest airport with a 24% market share of the total number of Bay Area residents served.
